Congratulations on your freshly waxed skin! Though issues after waxing are rare! Follow this advice to keep it smooth and healthy.

For the first 48 hours.

Antiseptic Cream. Apply a Savlon antiseptic cream every morning and night for the first 3 days to heal minor irritations and to keep the open hair follicles free from bacteria.

After your wax. Small red bumps and redness may show up after a fresh waxing treatment. This is a common and normal reaction, especially if it’s your first wax treatment. These symptoms well generally subside over the next 24-48 hours

Avoid Heat and Sweat. Avoid steam rooms, saunas, hot tubs, swimming pools, gyms and exercising for the next 48 hours to prevent contact with bacteria and infection.

Intimate Wax. If you had the coconuts, banana or the chocolate starfish and surrounding areas defuzzied, then avoid intimate encounters for the next 48 hours while the hair follicles close and the skin heals. After a number 2 use a few fragrance-free wet wipes to keep things clean as possible.

Bathing. Avoid hot baths and showers for 24 hours; water will feel hotter than usual so turn the water temperature down to a lukewarm setting.

Sunlight and Tanning. Avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds for at least 48 hours to prevent irritation and hyperpigmentation.

Clothing. Wear loose-fitting clothing to avoid friction and irritation for a couple of days after a wax.

Redness and Swelling. If you experience any redness or swelling, apply a cold compress to soothe the skin. this will subside with in 24 hours.

Ongoing Skin Care

Preventing Ingrown Hairs.
Start exfoliating a few days after your appointment and continue every 2 to 3 days.
Use an exfoliating mitten/glove on the waxed areas during showering, these can be purchased from all major stores in the beauty or medicine isles or from myself in the salon.
After your shower, apply some baby oil or E45 lotion to the waxed area, the waxed skin does need to be kept hydrated.
If you do start to show signs of the odd ingrown hair your skin may need a little extra help to remove them. It is best not to pick or scratch at these hairs.
Contact the salon and an after wax skin conditioning treatment can be provided to remove any ingrown hairs safely and professionally.

Hair Growth and Maintenance.
You will need at least 2-4 weeks' growth of hair before it can be successfully removed by waxing.
Do not shave between your appointments.
You may notice a few smaller finer hairs growing through after a week, if this is your first wax this is normal. Hair has three of growth cycles and it can take 2-3 wax treatments to align these cycles, so your waxing treatment lasts longer. If you feel there are more than there should be, get in touch and we can arrange a cleaning up session and get these few hairs removed for you.
For maintaining smooth skin, regular waxing every 4-6 weeks is recommended, the more you wax the finer, softer and slower the regrowth over time.
